I lived there for 3 months in 2003 - late Aug. to mid Oct. Night life was was fine - David Camp (really is what it is called) was a decent club and there was the Blues bar and what we called the Zebra bar - due to the striped tablecloths (really is called Macao Street). Lots of other neat little places. Only negatives were yes, the scary driving and my roommate from Calgary was mugged and robbed right in front of our apt. late at night - stepped out of a taxi and 2 guys on a motorbike made a grab for her purse. Knocked her down in the street and she cut her face. Quick thinking cabbie called the police, who hunted us down at the hospital and they caught them both same night and got her purse back. People in China were great overall and my friend is still there - but in Beijing now. We lived on Anshan
just down from the churches - 3 blocks from Da Cheng Jie.

Cheers.

Connie
