In response to Cancelled residence permit application form (Jess)

I went to Hong Kong and got approved for a Z visa only to come to China to report back to the agency for them to process the application for residence/work permit and then cancel it midway.

You need to find out fast from the agency why the application on your behalf was cancelled midway. You can then make an informed decision how to proceed based on what you've been told and advice posted by posters who respond to your follow-up post. I think that agency owes you a full explanation.
