Buy computer in China or bring own?
By:Justin <jpruitt1981@yahoo.com>

I tried searching both this website and Google in general but I can't find any information about whether it's best to buy a computer in China or bring one from home.

When I helped my penpal decide on a computer, I was very surprised to learn that they were often just as expensive (and sometimes MORE expensive) to buy in China. Especially for high performance hardware, which seemed more expensive in China compared to the U.S. Is that the case?

I'm wanting to get a computer with 12GB DDR3 1600 ram, GeForce GT250 (or better) video card, 1TB 7200 rpm 3Gb/s HDD, dual layer dvd+/-R/RW, good cooling, etc. I can get one from a custom shop, in a convenient 12"x15"x4.8" case, for around $1400 (possibly cheaper, looking still). It's filled with quality products (really good hardware) from well known brands and has a 3 year warranty that I can actually have faith in. Is it possible to get the same thing in China with the same trust at a lower price? To me, I'm just not sure that I could trust that the hardware is genuine, that it passed QC, and even if it did have a warranty whether I could actually get them to honor it. On top of that, the savings are minimal. Are my doubts unfounded?
