The school can get your visa changed from a visitors visa to a work visa when you there. If you are ready to go then email the school and ask if they will process your visa when you get there. Pack your bags and go.
I taught in China for two years. Everything is much slower in China than in Canada or the States. If you are ready to go and the school wants you they will get your visa for you.
China is great, you just need to go with a positive attitude. If you can try and go for the New Year's Festival, it is something to see. You will have a great time.
