Preparing a scriptwriting resume is notably different from writing a general work experience resume as it is not always simple to show that you are the best person for a particular job. The goal is to highlight to potential employers your skills, creativity, experience and recognition as a scriptwriter. Some employers will ask for an excerpt of a script you've written but don't include one unless asked to.

Compile your personal details -- name, address, phone number, e-mail address and a link to any personal blogs or websites which might highlight your writing experience. Format these details line after line and center them so that they stand out. Inexperienced scriptwriters can also include an objective, which can be a short sentence about your career expectations.

List the writing you have done under relevant titles such as film, television, radio and stage plays. List the year in which each project was completed. If you feel it would benefit your application, and if you have their approval, include the names of important people who were attached to the projects you have worked on.

Mention any other writing projects you have been involved in, even if they are unrelated to scriptwriting. For example, it may interest your potential employer if you have worked as a critic; similarly any short stories or novels you have written will demonstrate your versatility as a writer. List each title, publisher and publication year in chronological order.

Describe any awards you have received in recognition of your scriptwriting as well as any competitions you have been involved in or entered into. This will show your potential employer that a variety of experts have approved of your abilities as a scriptwriter.

Include any relevant work experience you have in any capacity related to film, television, radio or theater. If you have work experience in any other field which you think has informed your scriptwriting include a short explanation but otherwise avoid including an exhaustive work history.

Include a summary of educational institutions where you studied and degrees earned. Remember to list any specialized training or interesting qualifications that might differentiate you from the field of candidates.

Scriptwriters must express ideas clearly and develop a good storyline with believable characters; try to illustrate this talent in your resume.
