Travel Tips

Tips For Choosing Luggage
By:Michael Brandon Smith

One the first things to think about when choosing luggage is the color and general look of the bag. If you have already done your fair share of traveling, you may have subconsciously noticed that just about every bag you see is black. This is one of the problems with luggage. A tip that is used by more experienced travelers is purchasing luggage in less common colors. This makes it less likely for someone else to accidentally pick up your bag. Unfortunately some people steal bags and replace your bag with an empty black bag. If your bag sticks out, the chances of this happening may decrease significantly and you are more likely to quickly and easily spot your bag.

Another thing to consider when purchasing luggage is the composition of the bag which allows you to measure its durability. A durable bag can last you a very long time. A couple of materials that are extremely durable and light weight are the Ballistic and Cordura nylon. On the other hand, leather can be attractive but comes with some drawbacks. It is usually very heavy which is why it is rarely seen when traveling.

The next factor when picking luggage is the frame. You want to make sure it is composed of a strong, light weight material such as fiberglass or aluminum. Probably one of the most forgotten pieces of luggage to evaluate is the zipper. Metal zippers are notorious for malfunctioning or breaking especially when over packing. The synthetic and self repairing zippers work well.

When it comes to some things getting the best deal is advantageous. Don't I repeat don't go cheap on your luggage. You will pay for it in the long run. As the saying goes you get what you pay for. Even if you travel infrequently, you will have luggage that will last for years to come. It is not necessary to purchase the most expensive bags, but you want to do your research and make sure you are getting a quality brand. It can be embarrassing if you are in the airport and your zipper gets stuck. After struggling to fix it, the zipper breaks. This can ruin a vacation instantly.

In conclusion, when shopping for luggage you want to make sure you purchase a well made durable bag that will last you for years. This will keep you from buying luggage every couple of years.

While traveling can be an enjoyable and exciting experience, make sure you have the right luggage for your travel. This will help you avoid some mishaps such as broken zippers and ripped fabric. Michael Smith travels frequently and wants to help others have a good travel experience.
