Luggage Tips That Will Help You Avoid Checking Your Luggage
By:Alan Cassidy

Checking your luggage can cost a lot of money. It is also such a huge hassle when you arrive to your destination only to find out that your luggage has inadvertently boarded the wrong plane!

But don't worry. You can avoid the numerous hassles accompanied by checking your luggage. Here are some tips that will prove to be quite useful:

1. Avoid buying hard-cased or hard-sided luggage sets. They won't fit the airplane compartments no matter how hard you shove and push. Soft-sided bags are more flexible. Moreover, you can easily stuff things inside the bag to maximize the space.

2. Pack wisely. Learn how to edit the things you are leaving behind and the things you are bringing. Women, for instance, tend to bring a lot of toiletries. Consider bringing only your travel essentials and leave some of your toiletries behind. You can purchase them in the nearest Duty Free store anyway.

3. If you are bringing toiletries with you, transfer some of them to smaller bottles. There are still limitations in most Airlines as to the toiletries that can be permitted to be stashed in your carry-on bag. Check the rules of the Airline Company and find out the maximum size of toiletries a person is permitted to bring.

4. Plan the clothes you are going to wear and mull over the possibility of using laundering services in your travel destination. You don't have to bring that extra pair of jeans or those extra pairs of shoes. Mix and match clothes so that you can bring only a few clothes without compromising your style.

5. When packing, roll your clothes instead of folding them. Rolling them actually takes up lesser space inside. It also gives you more room for your other garments. You can also try maximizing space by using the inside of your shoes as extra luggage space. Place jewelries in a small pouch and stuff them inside your shoes.

6. If you can't leave without your toiletries or hair products, you might want to pack them and ship them via FedEx. This is a trick often used by travel aficionados. Ship them one day before your scheduled date of departure. You can have any business center at your travel destination ship it back to your home after your vacation. It actually costs less than checked luggage. Moreover, it does not give you headaches.

So here are the ways for you to maximize luggage space and avoid checking your travel bags.
