Italy and qualifications (Questions About Schools)

In Response To: Certification (CELTA vs TESOL, Italy) (Michael Hall)

When I was in Italy there were schools employing people to teach with neither qualifications nor experience, but this was in the days of way back and times they are a-changing…

You may find yourself in the position of being a school’s most experienced and qualified member of staff but paid less than a newly qualified teacher who has the Cert. or not having your existing qualifications recognised.

If you want to equip yourself with a Cert. without investing huge sums of money or time then you could do worse than investigate TEFL International’s PELT course… this takes into account a teacher’s previous classroom experience and works out a lot cheaper than a standard Cert. course

If you are not an Australian of European decent i.e. able to claim EU citizenship then I would worry about that more than your qualifications.
