In Response To: CELTA is useful (Maryam)

Hi Maryam:
I was interested in reading your response re CELTA and the availability of jobs. I wondered if you could advise me a little on the necessary OTHER qualifications. I do NOT have a University Degree and I see that the good jobs often ask for this in addition to the CELTA certification. I can understand this but I am wondering if the lack of a degree is going to put big barriers in my path?? I am a mature (very mature at the ripe old age of 58!!) woman with a lot of skills and abilities and feel I would be a good/excellent teacher. But with the double whammy of age and no Degree, I am wondering if I am setting myself up for failure.

Any chance you could give me your take on the situation. I live in Ontario but I have a Euro Passport because I am Irish.

Thanks so much,
Ronnie
