Resume and Interview Tips

Tips For Writing A Compelling Resume Objective
By:Carlie Evie

Objective: To write a useful article that will help resume writers grab the attention of interviewers by using a compelling resume objective.
The objective is the first thing people will see when they read your resume. It needs to be concise, positive, and it needs to capture the attention of the reader.
It must be tailored to the position for which you're applying... show the reader that you want to work for them. Here are some tips for getting that perfect objective:
This is the place to describe the kind of job you're seeking. Keep the objective neutral. Do not state your desire, but what you can do for the company.
For instance, instead of writing, "A position in which I can grow and use my skills, etc." be specific about the job, as in, "A position as an administrative assistant in a fast-paced office environment." When it comes to your objective, focus on the job and the company. Keep this in mind: What would the manager want in a new employee?
Only list one title for each resume! Don't make this a list of all the different things you can do. Specifically answer a question in the resume objective: "What job are you seeking?
You want the objective to be short, no longer than a sentence. Two may be fine if they're both short and to the point, but a long objective will not capture the attention of your potential employer.
This is not the place to angle for a promotion before you've already gotten this job! Everyone wants opportunities to advance, and everyone knows it. Don't state the obvious here. Avoid being redundant in your objective. Don't tell prospective employers that you're hard-working and responsible. You want all your experience and skills to say that for you!
So if you write your resume objective from the point of view of an employer, and if you keep all these tips in mind, you will be that much closer to the perfect job!
