Resume and Interview Tips

Resume Templates Online
By:Jay Tokarz

Find resume templates online by using Google or Yahoo.

If you are new to resume writing, it is would be very beneficial for you to search for resume templates online. These templates will show you what a resume should look like and where you should place the information. There are literally thousands of templates on the Internet, either free or templates you have to pay for. All of them will help you in the same way to give you a professional looking document to submit with your job application.

One thing you should be aware of when writing a resume that good spelling is important. While the search engine will detect that you misspelled the word "templates" and correct it for you directing you to the right place, employers will not try to figure out what you mean when you misspell words on your resume. You should type your resume into the template and the word program you are using will pick up any misspellings. However, this is not always the case, so another helpful hint would be to have someone proofread it for you.

When you find resume templates, you can choose the basic format or find one specific to the job you want or your individual situation. Here you can also choose different designs. The template will tell you how information should be included, such as placing the year first and then the degree or certificate when you are writing about your educational background.

You can download the template and modify it to suit your needs. This lets you personalize the resume to make it your own. All templates will be blank for you to type in your specific qualifications.

A resume template will provide you with the proper format. You will see that it should be short, so you need to spend time searching for the right words to highlight your positive attributes. You can make a list of these before you start. You wouldn't want to include anything in your resume that might be negative, such as a job where you didn't perform well. You also need to use concise wording to detail your skills without making the resume long and boring.

A template will help you write a professional resume, but what you write on the resume is up to you. It is not the look of the document that will get you an interview. It is how you phrase the details of your skills and experiences that the employer is most interested in reading.
