First, you need to set up a Power Resume - one that will get you noticed over 93% of all other resumes. A Power Resume WILL get you job interviews and job offers.

This Power Resume's only purpose is to tell the company what you can do for them. Don't mention what you need until the interview. Focus only on the exact job position that you are going for. Never use a generic resume - be as specific as possible. Emphasize your achievements and results. (See my previous articles: How To Discover Your 3 Best Job Skills" and "3 Things To Make You Look Great To Employers")

You will also need an electronic form of your resume with the proper keywords that employers search for and put them in the top section of your resume.

Secondly, get as many testimonials as you can from friends, supervisors, fellow employees, and use them in your resume, either in the left margin or along the bottom. Put your best one at the top of your Power Resume right under your personal information.

Third, you will need a Cover Letter - not just any cover letter, but a Power Cover Letter. This will make employers sit up and take notice. This will make employers call you before anybody else. You need to use advertising and copywriting skills to sell yourself to employers. Tell them why they need you and prove it to them! Finally, as soon as you are finished with the interview, make up a Thank-You letter and mention that you agree with specific things that were said during the interview, or comment favorably on any other topic of conversation that took place. Once again, summarize your main 3 skills. Mail it out that same day! (not email, but good old-fashioned postal mail) Mail another letter out 1 week later, and every week after that. Keep your name in their memory. After your initial mailing, you can do subsequent mailings by combining mail, fax, and email for the remaining weeks.
