How to Write a Mini Resume
By:Collaborator

A mini resume is a brief summary of your career that can be condensed onto a business card or a half sheet a paper. The mini resume is the perfect hand out for networking events and chance meetings with people who could help lead you to your next career. The mini resume should tell three simple, but significant things about you: who you are, the position you're seeking and what makes you qualified.

Create an outline of all of your information before writing the actual mini resume. Include your contact information, work history, achievements, skills and education. After you've assembled all of this data, start pulling out information that is most pertinent to the career you want. Boil down your outline to contact information, a professional title that explains what you do and at least three stand out accomplishments and skills that best relate to the position you're looking for.

You may create your mini resume using a business card website, or you may even create your own brief print outs using your Word software. If you make your mini resume on a business card, use one side for your name, title and contact information. Include your street address, email and phone number. If you use a print out, put your name, professional title or career field, and contact information at the top of the page. Get the print outs laminated so that they're sturdy enough to withstand time in a bag, portfolio or pocket.

The back of the business card or first entry on the print out lists your key qualifications. For example, if you're looking for a job in graphic design you would write, "5 years of experience in web development and multimedia design."

List three key skills with bullet points. Include any certifications and specific abilities or achievements.

Finish the mini resume with any educational degrees at the bottom of the card or print out. Include the name of the school.
