How to Write a CV Blog
By:Jessica Cook

A CV, or curriculum vitae, is a document that outlines your professional and academic accomplishments. Since your CV should be updated frequently, a blog is an ideal format for it. You'll be able to change items as needed, and you can direct prospective schools or employers to your CV with only a website address.

Choose your blog format and layout. You can create a blog for free using a variety of resources. Try Blogger, WordPress or LiveJournal to create a custom blog where you can choose your background and add pages or posts as often as you like. These services lead you through the setup process. When you choose your blog's web address, keep it professional. Try using your name or your name followed by "CV." Choose a professional, standard layout and design as well. This is not the time to highlight your interests in video games or vampire fiction. Choose a blog layout that has simple colors and clean lines.

Keep an introductory post at the top of your blog. You can do this by checking the option to "Keep at Top" or "Maintain as First Post." Introduce yourself briefly and explain your job-seeking interests and background. Direct users to the rest of your blog and show them where to click to find more information about you.

Create pages for your experience and education. You can include these as posts below your initial introduction or make them as separate pages and add links on the main page. For your job experience, include information as you normally would on a resume. For education, highlight the names of the schools you attended and the degrees you earned, as well as your GPA and academic majors and minors.

Include a page or post about awards and honors you have received, both academically and professionally.

Scan and upload relevant documents, such as diplomas and transcripts. This way, prospective employers can readily verify your education, although they probably will still request official transcripts. You may also want to upload images of documents such as teaching licenses.
