Open the word processing program by double-clicking on your program icon. If you don't have an icon, click "Start" and find the word processing program in the "Programs" menu.

Write the resume and cover letter and save it in your word processing program.

Save the resume and cover letter by clicking "File" on the Menu bar. Choose "Save As." Your "Save As" window opens. Name the resume in the "File Name" box. Click "Save."

Close the word processing program. Open the email program.

Insert the name of the employer in the "To:" box. This is who will receive the resume and cover letter. Write resume in the "Subject" box so the employer knows what file is attached.
