How to Write a Resume With Diverse Work Experience
By:Vanessa Glass

Creating a resume can be difficult when your work experience is varied. What should you put on your resume? What are your potential employers looking for? Follow the steps below to write a resume with your diverse work experience.

Start your resume by writing down your basic information. Have your name in a larger text size. Also include your address, phone numbers where employers can reach you and email address. Basically, any contact information that the employer will find useful.

Consider the type of job you want. Every type of job needs a different set of skills and qualifications. Divide the jobs into categories and create a resume for each.

List all previous employers you've had over the past five to ten years. Include the name of company, location and dates you worked there.

Write down the skills you've used or gained from each work experience. Have a subsection under each employer and list a few of the skills and tasks that you were required to do. Try to relate the tasks to the specific job you're applying for.

Consider including an objective. This will help employers see that you are now focused and want to start on a new path. Be sure to make it specific to the job type.

Put in a skills/qualifications section. You can make it 2 or 3 columns wide if you have many skills that you want to mention. This can be any computer programs you know how to use, skills that you've gained and anything else that will help you.

Certifications should be on your resume if you have any. Make sure certifications is its own section.

Whatever your educational status, make sure you put it on your resume. If you were in any clubs/organizations, you can list them under each educational institution. Include name of school, dates attended, and degree (if any).

Keep your resume at 1 page, max.

References should be on a different page.
