Resume and Interview Tips

How to Write a Biographical Resume
By:Carol Adams

One of the most important factors in getting a job is providing a solid, professional resume. Of the many different types of resumes, the biographical resume is becoming increasingly popular. A biographical resume gives your potential employer a better idea of who you are as a person, apart from your education and experience that may be similar to those of any number of other candidates. Using a biographical resume can help you stand out from the crowd of applicants. Writing a biographical resume is a relatively straightforward process.

Make an outline for you resume, taking note of the types of information you want to include in each paragraph. Although a biographic resume is a bit less structured than a standard resume, each paragraph still should concentrate on a particular topic, such as your education or experience.

Write a paragraph for each section, making sure the grammar and spelling are perfect. Write in the third person, as though you are writing about someone else. But beyond the grammar itself, you want the paragraphs to read well. Have a friend or a professional with a lot of writing experience read over the resume for you.

Arrange the paragraphs in the final draft of the resume to stress your strongest points first. This means that if you have little work experience, this should be further down in the document, while the paragraph about your education might be at the top.
