When was the last time you enjoyed a fetch play with your dog? Or enjoyed a sunny day picnic with your family members? When was the last time you stayed at home and watched Will & Grace or FRIENDS? Do you know laughter and fun are the best ways to control stress and prevent mental and physical damage?

Let me tell you how laughter and fun can help you in managing your stress and other anxiety and depression related problems:

• Laughter reduces four neuroendocrine hormones among stress hormones that constrict blood vessels and suppress immune activity.

• Laughter boosts the interferon levels of the immune system and helps the human body’s ability to fight illness and escalates healing.

• It results in pain reduction and muscle relaxation.

• Laughter is a type of cardiac exercise providing a good cardiac conditioning.

• It also prevents hypertension.

• It also helps in emphysema and other respiratory diseases.

• When you have fun and enjoy play time, it loosens up your joints and relaxes your body.

Laughter makes you spit your food, distort your face, leave you gasping for air and it creates a loud, unintelligible noise. But, whatever it may be…it does FEEL GOOD.

There are ways by which you can involve yourself into laughter. All you need is willingness to laugh aloud.

A. Make sure to watch a sitcom everyday, involve your favorite family member, you will enjoy the fun even more.

B. Subscribe to a ‘Joke a Day’ email, you can read it even at your work place.

C. Prefer company of those people who are known for their funny ways and practical jokes.

D. Comics like Garfield, Denis the menace etc are very enjoyable; you can read them whenever you have time.

E. Keep a joke book with yourself, read whenever you find time.

F. There are a number of small incidents taking place every day around us, and believe me they can bring a laugh; you just need to have a mind to enjoy and eye to notice them. Do not miss a chance to laugh on the real life fun factors.

G. Try to pop up some jokes yourself and bring smile to others face. It will also make you popular in the society, as witty jokes are always welcomed at all levels of our society.

Laugh your heart out; it is not so tough to remain stress free or out of anxiety. Your willingness to be happy plays an important role. Every human being has a source of happiness within himself, so unfasten the source and let the happiness flow. It is an art, one who acquires it, remains happy till the end of his life. It’s about choosing to see the funny side of life instead of frustrating side. Some are born with that kind of eye, some need to develop that eye. You can do it for the sake of your own happiness and wellbeing; Trust me its not that difficult
