Be Careful What You Ask For, You Might Just Get It - Self Improvement
By:Tim Connor

There is an old saying. I don’t remember where I first heard it but at least once a week I hear someone say it – ‘be careful what you ask for, you might just get it.’ What exactly does this saying mean and should we pay much attention to it?

What I believe it means is – what you secretly yearn for - in your heart and express through your words - acts like a magnet in the Universe. Each of us has dreams, desires, hopes, plans and wishes. Some of these are just fantasies, that we believe will never come true. (Sometimes they do. Miracles happen every day. Not your ‘wildest’ dreams fantasies, like winning the lotto but the garden type miracles, the ones we often take for granted such as):

- You got up this morning (statistics tell us that 45,000 people died in their sleep last night)

- Your heart beats around 2 ½ million time a month – month in and month out. Not a small miracle, but one that many people take for granted.

- Every day there is enough oxygen to breath, food to eat (for most of us) and water to drink. To mention just a few.

Many people harbor fear, hopelessness, anger, guilt, regret and frustration in their hearts and then wonder why life gives them daily, that which is consistent with this inner consciousness. (what they really believe they deserve) Life isn’t fair or unfair. It just IS. What is – IS. We may not like what is, want what is, or believe we asked for it, but in the end, most of us create our lives, destiny, outcomes and circumstances one thought at a time. People who are happy, content, wealthy etc. were first so in their hearts and minds. The same is true for people who are sick, broke, afraid and who fail. The law applies equally to all of us, every minute of every day.

So, what are you asking for? Not just your goals and plans, but your secret thoughts and desires. What are you getting in your life? Having lived for over 50 years, I have spent a lot of time believing and just as much time disbelieving this principle. I can tell you if and I repeat, if this principle is TRUE, that we get what we really want, believe and think we deserve, what have you got to lose by believing that you can have it all and sending these beliefs through your thoughts out to the universe?
