Goal Setting - 5 Tips For Successfully Hitting Your Goals
By:Anthony D Carter

In successful goal setting and goal achievement you should keep certain pointers in mind. Here are 5 tips to help you hit your goals.

Pick the right one.

Be certain that you choose the right goal. Rather than signing up to run in a marathon so that you can lose weight you may want to go on a diet instead. It may be a better idea to get on a budget and save money instead of obtaining a second job in order to buy a new car. Give your goal some thought before you begin. Make sure that you zero in on what it is that you want and that you are taking the most efficient route towards getting it. Sometimes we hit our goals only to later realize that results did not satisfy our true desires.

Focus on developing good habits.

Establish routines so that you will have habits which lead you steadily to the accomplishment of your goal. Good habits will eliminate procrastination and confusion. You will avoid the common pitfall of paralysis by analysis when you develop good work habits. Good work habits eliminate the need for making simple decisions like: "Should I go to the gym to workout today or should I wait until next week?" When you have an established routine this type of mental ping pong gets eliminated. You know when you are going to workout. You are going to keep doing what you have been doing all along.

Believe in yourself.

Your confidence will waver from time to time, but continue to believe in yourself. Just know that you would have the ability to hit your goal. You have to keep your belief level high and not let discouragement slow you down. Sometimes the best way to gain confidence is to keep doing the work. This develops your belief in you. You feel good about yourself when you know that you are paying the price to have what you want.

See it before you have it.

Keep a clear picture of your desired target in mind. Know what you want and continue to imagine yourself in possession of it. You need to act as it is already yours. See it and feel it. Take possession of it mentally before you actually have it physically. This makes your goal feel real. It seems tangible. You will work harder to have it when you truly believe that it is just a matter of time before you obtain it.

Don't quit.

Persist. Through thick and thin, through good times and bad keep on moving forward. Stopping leads to failure. You must not give up. You may need to regroup and alter your plan in order to get better results. The longer you stick with it the more you will discover patterns that will lead you the achievement of your goal. Experience is a major asset that you can acquire from being persistent. Also remember it gets hard just as you are close to crossing the finish line and achieving your goal so don't quit.
