Depression - The Enemy of Life
By:Nabihah Zaid

Depression: What is it?

Psychologically, depression is a state when someone feels extreme sadness, guilt, helplessness, hopelessness and thoughts of death. Although sadness and guilt is part of life, having too much of it would be bad as first, you're letting yourself believe that you are worthless and has nothing to look forward to in life. Second, it is highly unhealthy as it causes loss of appetite, insomnia (inability to fall asleep), and the inability to concentrate.

How to get over it?

Think Positive. There's always a bright side to everything. Like this world, every single country would have their own bright day and would have their own dark nighttime. Same goes to every person in this world, you cannot expect a criminal to be all bad, they have their own bright side, but maybe their mind did not control them as well as it should have when they committed murder. I know, it is hard to accept that fact, but, what I'm trying to say is, if everyone was nice in this world, there would not be world wars, world peace would be a reality - now that would be a dream come true.

Whatever you do, remember that suicide does not help. When you decide to end you life, that's it, you cannot get your life back, pretty much will only show that you're a weak coward to yourself, and to all the people who envies you - you will only make them happy because, all their effort to bring you down, to get rid of you, has proved to be a big success. Who on this beautiful Earth would want to die as a coward? I know I wouldn't want to. No one is better than anyone else in this world, everyone's special in their own ways, the only thing which makes one in a better position, their education, lifestyles and social background. So, if you want to be one of those upper people, stop sobbing and start working!

Life is a challenge, embrace it, don't be afraid. If people were afraid in this world, no one would be able to swim, nor to run because we'd be too scared to take on risks and learn new skills. Don't ever give up, because life is not for quitters, if everyone else can live their life, why can't you? Have confidence in yourself and be happy with who you are, don't listen to all those people who only knows how to talk about others' faults rather than their own.

Socialize more. No one likes feeling neglected, everyone knows that. So, just talk to people and they'll talk to you, if they don't, they honestly do not know what they're missing on. If I can write a smile right now, I would but, since this is not an instant messaging service or anything similar, I guess you'll be fine without it.

A problem shared is a problem halved. Let your worries and feelings out, when you have, believe me, the relief is just great. But, whatever you do, make sure the person you share your problem with can be trusted and will keep the 'secret' only between the two of you and no one else. Otherwise, it might just make it worse. I think I'll end this article with, in whatever you do, be wise and be prepared.
