Gaining Self Confidence - 5 Simple Tips To Become More Confident
By:Prasant

Many people, just like you, have learned the simple truths about how to gain the self confidence they desire to become successful.

It is a waste of time to allow other's words or perceived thoughts dictate how you feel. When you begin to trust in yourself, you feel stronger and more confident. It is a wonderful feeling!

Do Confident People Always Succeed?

Confident people succeed many more times than not. This personality type experiences a significantly higher chance of success. Why? Because their belief in themselves is unwavering when they face a momentary failure. This is a learned behavior, one that you can easily master, too.

Practice these 5 simple techniques as outlined below and you will soon feel much more bold, you will find you feel more credible as you make decisions and you will become more successful.

5 Top Tips To Become More Confident

1. Practice reacting aggressively and positively towards fears in your imagination.

Do this every time fear creeps into your imagination. See yourself reacting aggressively and positively towards those fears. It will be a matter of time before those reactions extend to reality when those or similar situations show up in your actual, day-to-day life.

Remember the childhood story about the little train that thought he could? Just like that little train, whether you think you can or think you can't - you are right. Know that you can!

2. Take risks. Take a Chance.

Taking risks reduces lack of self confidence and sets you free to do what your heart desires. When you get the choice to sit it out or dance, choose to dance. By not taking the chances, you will be missing wonderful opportunities. Regret is a terrible feeling.

3. Let your actions show that you know it is impossible to fail.

When you set out to do what your heart desires, the confidence you will gain is immeasurable. Go ahead and just do it. Really, you will feel great! Soon, you will be looking for more opportunities to grow your confidence.

Be assured that it can be done, and you can do it. Think about how it will be when your project is finished, and wonderful. Thinking these positive thoughts will invoke that ability within you to move forward, and get the job done. If a mistake does happen along the way, do not become stressed, just correct your actions as you go along. Move forward.

4. Relax your fear away.

Current psychology studies suggest that it is impossible to feel fear when your muscles are kept perfectly relaxed. So the moment you recognize the fear or anxiety creeping in during a situation, identify those tightening muscles and focus on relaxing them.

Begin to imagine each muscle individually, beginning with your feet. Tighten each muscle, and then relax it. Move up your body until you reach your scalp. Tighten, and then relax. Simply practice this relaxation techniques several times a day, you will soon feel your stress melt away.

5. Substitute the feeling of fear with a more positive feeling.

Think about something that makes you feel happy. Perhaps a wonderful memory from a relaxing vacation? Reproduce that same feeling, dwell on what is positive and enjoyable. Replace the negative thought with your wonderful memory.

This tip may not be able to forcefully drive the fear away by sheer will power, but you can easily substitute it with another good feeling. And practice makes perfect. Begin to try this tip out with little things, and then move on to more important matters. Soon, you will be feeling more confident with your everyday decisions.

As soon as you identify a negative thought creeping into your mind, change your internal dialogue to reverse the thought and put a positive spin to it. The moment you identify any irrational "what ifs" in your mind, replace them with "I'll handle it" or "It can be done" or "I'll figure it out".

Remember, failing is normally only the result of not trying.
