ESL Game 4 Wheel of Fortune
By:Joe Tosczak

This ESL Game is called WHEEL OF FORTUNE.

First divide your ESL class into two teams. One team can be the RED team and the other team can be the BLUE team.

The teacher will think of a sentence or word(s) to write on the board. For example:

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

The teacher (you) will write the above on the blackboard. Then you can ask one student from one team to guess a letter. If the student guesses a correct letter you will then write that letter on the dash that it corresponds with.

For example: Team Red guesses the letter "I." The ESL teacher would then write all of the "I" letters IN THE TEAM'S COLOR.

I_ i_ _ _ _ _

Then it would be the BLUE team's turn. If they guess a correct letter you would write that letter - in the teams color. If they guessed a wrong letter; then you would not write any letters.

After each team has a guess, their turn is over and it is the other teams guess. You will continue to play this game until the sentence puzzle is solved.

ANSWER: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ = IT IS A CAT

When the puzzle is solved the teacher would then count up all the RED letters and all the BLUE letters. The team with the most letters wins. This is a great warm up game because the ESL students love to play it and you are teaching English at the same time.

This game can be used at anytime in the class and you can always play it if you want to liven up the classes spirit!
