English schools in Japan

Shinjuku, Sapporo, Nagoya, Fukuoka
School:ELS Language Centers

Centers in Shinjuku, Sapporo, Nagoya and Fukuoka.

For more than 45 years, students have been choosing ELS for their Intensive English studies, both in the US and around the world.

ELS Language Centers came into being as the US State Department-affiliated English Education Institute. In 1961 we became a private company and since then we have helped more than 2 million people acquire English language abilities suitable both for everyday communication and also (for those that want it) for academic study in American colleges and universities. Our history is long and broad. The 2 million people we have taught came from over 140 diferent countries, and we are still growing. Currently we have 80 centers, the majority located in the US and the rest in 16 other countries around the world.

With 600 affiliated universities and colleges, more than 3000 students go to universities and colleges from ELS every year. With more than 600 US universities, colleges and career schools recognizing ELS graduation as an enrollment alternative to the TOEFL test, ELS helps more than 3000 foreign students every year to embark on academic studies in the US.

We are part of the Berlitz International Group.
IN 1997, ELS Language Centers extended its operations by becoming part of the Berlitz International group of companies. Now, we are the world's foremost supplier of campus-based English instruction and are recognized as one of the world's most respected providers of English language tuition for academic, professional and everyday purposes.

This recognition has been expressed by the numerous national governments and multinational companies that have entrusted us with students, and by the US educational institutions that enroll our graduates without the standard TOEFL requirement.

Some of the leading companies and institutions that have employed our programs include American Express, Bank of America, Citibank, Coca-Cola, DuPont SA, General Electric, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Mobil Oil, Nestle, Price Waterhouse, UNICEF and Xerox. Here in Japan, ELS teachers have taught programs at numerous educational institutions including: Rikkyo University, Gakushuin University, Dokkyo University, Nippon Women's University and Showa University.

High praise from many fields! We are also a member of several authoritative educational institutes.
ELS Language Centers is fully accredited by the government-recognized body responsible for oversight of ESL schools (ACCET) and is authorized under US Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students. This, together with our membership of numerous respected educational organizations, is a rare privilige not offered to many other language teaching companies.
