Founded in 1951, Stockholm International School (SIS) is designed to serve the children of the international community posted in Sweden and Swedish citizens looking for an international education in the English medium.
The school is an independent, open-admission, co-educational Pre K- 12 day school governed by a Board of Trustees.

The educational program is modeled after International Baccalaureate and North American guidelines. The school year runs from mid-August to mid-June and has a minimum instructional period of 180 days divided into two semesters.

SIS is housed in a well-equipped building in the centre of Stockholm, next to a park on a hilltop near the main downtown business area. The location offers easy access to a wide range of museums, parks, historical sites, and other places of interest that provide enrichment to the academic program.

The student body numbers 400, representing over 50 nationalities (including a small percentage of Swedish nationals). The teaching faculty of 60 teachers represent 17 nationalities. The International Primary Curriculum (IPC), the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programs (DP) form the basis of the school's academic mission. All three programs of study are inquiry-based
methodologies designed to meet the individual needs of an exceptionally diverse student body.
