General English Courses (for Adults over 16 years old)

All of our standard courses are designed to help you with all aspects of your English, including your conversation, comprehension, reading and written work. These courses are especially suitable for people who can afford the time to study full-time and for a minimum of several weeks. We also offer part-time programmes for those who are staying long term in Ireland.

Exam Preparation Classes

Courses aimed at specific preparation towards examinations. Currently we cover the Cambridge Suite (First Certificate, Cambridge Advanced, Cambridge Proficiency), TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS and TIE.

Study and Work

Courses approved by the Irish Department of Education (ACELS) and by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform for Study and Work. These courses all allow students to work part-time (20 hours per week) during term time, and work full-time during holidays. These courses are suitable for long term study and also for pre-university studies.

English with Special Studies in Sports or Rock Music

For those who want to combine their course with sports or music tuition these courses provide professional level tuition in addition to English Classes.

Academic Year and Highschool

Spend a year in an Irish school as part of your high school education, or complete your high school education in Ireland. We offer programmes based on the International Baccalaureate or on the Irish Leaving Certificate.

Au Pair and Work Programmes

Work and learn. An Au-Pair study programme or a study programme including work placement is suitable for long term study in Ireland.

Intensive Courses for Executives, Businessmen, and ESP (English for Special Purposes.)

The DSE has been running Business Courses since 1973, and has an excellent range of Intensive Courses. These are suited to intensive study over a short period of time or for people who need English for Special Purposes (ESP). Intensive courses feature individual or very small group tuition and more lessons per week. Our client list includes employees of ABB, Aeroflot, Audi, Glaxo, Miat, Microsoft, Siemens, Skoda, Volkswagen, Zanussi, EU personnel and many more.

Junior Courses for Children

Our Junior courses are based on our standard English Language Programme for Adults. In the case of Juniors they have a separate academic programme and classes are geared towards the needs of young learners. We also provide a separate Programme of tours, sports, excursions and social activities all included in the course fees.

Internships and Work Experience

Aimed at those seeking valuable work experience in their field. These are unpaid positions and are aimed at university students or graduates or at professionals.

Teacher Training / TEFL

We have been running Teacher Training Programmes for over 30 years and are leaders in the field of teacher training in Ireland. We offer the RELSA Preparatory Certificate in TEFL for Native Speakers, and a Teacher Refresher Course for foreign Teachers of English (recognised by the European Union Leonardo and Socrates Programmes.)

Study & Work

These courses are regsitered with the Department of Education and Science (ACELS) in Ireland. They only apply to non-EU and non-EEA nationals who with to study long term in Ireland and have permission to work while studying.
