South Korea

Hi, my name is Andrew and I am a UK science graduate. I have been living and working teaching English in South Korea since July 2003.

At the moment, I am teaching business English conversation and e-mail writing at DSME (Daewoo Marine Engineering) in Okpo, Geoje Island. The current semester ends on December 17th, when my Academy classes take their Final Tests; at the moment, I am also doing a lot of short (30 minutes) 1-to-1 lessons with a number of students.

We were informed this week that DSME will not be employing any full-time teachers next year, and this means that I shall be free to take on a new instructing position at the end of December. Please note that I am only seeking a new position in South Korea, and that I prefer adult instruction positions.

In this position, Fridays are normally free because our normal working days are Monday to Thursday. My previous teaching jobs have been Monday to Friday, and my other adult teaching jobs have been split shifts or actually part-time (the KDLI position was four hours of teaching per day - part of the Joint Military University - but with a full-time salary).

The expiry date on my ARC is 2016.04.01. Also if possible, I would prefer to remain in the Gyeongnam area (although I would be willing to relocate elsewhere), but my preference would be for teaching adults.

In all of my previous posts I have been healthy, dedicated and highly reliable; I have not had a day off work sick for over ten years, and I always try to incorporate new technology into my lessons, and to take advantage of all the facilities available.

Ideally, also, if possible, a position in which I am given rent money each month and allowed to find an apartment myself, as generally the apartments I have been given since leaving KDLI have really been far too small. I am prepared to make a long-term commitment to a new employer if they are prepared to help me with this.

If you would like to contact me, please e-mail the first instance to: englishinkorea@yahoo.com.
