English is one of the hardest languages to learn, so it is necessary to develop a few practices to enforce study and constant practice. Like any skill, a practice routine needs to be developed for any success to occur. Rather than studying English grammar books all of the time, there are a few methods to increase your English skills without stressing you out. Although it is impossible to learn English overnight, you will be able to learn it more efficiently.

Language Exchange Programs
In order to be a successful English speaker you must use it every day. Traveling abroad and living in an English speaking country is by far the most effective way to learn English, however not every one gets to have that opportunity. However one way to simulate this experience is by enrolling in a free language exchange program. These can be found online and there are a few links listed in the resource section. How a language exchange program works is that you search for English speaking people and they will decide if they are interested in learning your language. If they are, you will then help teach them your language and they will help you in return. This service is primarily done through Skype and is not only a great way to learn English, but you will be able to meet many people as well.

Tutoring and Volunteering in Class
Enrolling in a tutoring class will give you the structure and grammar help that you need to be able to succeed. Going to Craigslist and posting an ad for an English tutor is one step you can take. Depending on your location, there may be several language institutes in your area. For example in Asia, teaching English is a big business so there are plenty of language institutes. However you may need to look harder if you are not blessed with this situation. If you are currently in an education system, volunteer and raise your hand more. Speaking is often the most difficult aspect of the language to learn because the student is not confident in what is coming out of their mouth. Do not be afraid to raise your hand and answer questions. If you are wrong, the worst that could happen is that the teacher will correct you.

Journaling
Keep and write often in an English journal. Although you may already keep a journal, devote a second one entirely to English. Sometimes so much time is spent on speaking, that reading and writing are often over looked. Write about anything that is on your mind. The content does not have to deal with learning English. It is simply a way to document what are you feeling in the English language. This should be private, and unless you plan on reading it to your friends and family, treat it as something that you only have access to. This will help practice writing down your emotions and feelings. After writing, read through your journal entries and try to proofread them for grammar mistakes. They do not have to be perfect, this is simply an exercise to get you into a habit of writing. Feel free to create a blog as well. These often have spell checks built in so you can correct your spelling mistakes too.
