Founded in 2000 by a desire to create a different and distinctive school choice for expatriate and local families in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Academy has developed into a unique and exciting inquiry-based learning institution. The founding principles remain firmly in place in an intimate atmosphere of small classes and personal attention for students. It is prized for its warm and caring environment and its supportive community.

It has clearly developed a culture which is centered on what is best for children and parents, how they learn best and how we, as educators, can make that happen. The level of parent involvement, parent education and professional development is high. The school works hard to connect with the local community, to be as inclusive as possible, and to celebrate the diversity that makes it such an exciting and unique school.

The Academy opened a Middle School in August 2006 and is now committed to developing an outstanding high school commencing in August 2008.
