On the 28th of August 2005 we came to Xiangtan city in Hunan province to teach English in the local Xiangtan University. Since May 2005 we had been corresponding with Mr Zhang who claimed to be the uni representative.The whole procedure was going smooth at the beginning.We had sent all required documents and we were assured that we were both accepted as teachers.
In the beginning of August my girlfriend got all her documents required to apply for Z visa. I was asked to apply for L visa because my documents were late - that was HIS explanation. We were again assured that we had been both accepted and my L visa would be changed to Z visa once we were in China.
We arrived in Xiangtan and it became clear that I was not accepted because of a lack of teaching experience. Besides the contract we had signed in June was completely different from the one we were shown.
I was assured that I would be employed by the university once they have seen how I work. Then they would decide whether to employ me or not.
The problem is, that i would have to go to Hong Kong to change my visa and according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of People's Republic of China only citizens of Germany and the USA are entitled to apply for Z visa in Hong Kong.
I changed my life to come here: i paid travel expenses (which will not be reinbursed as i am not employed), i quit my job and i rented my flat. I feel cheated and helpless. So again be aware of that man who has guts to claim he is faithful and honest man

Can you help at all? Any advice?
