Re: Why Do Chinese Girls Want To Marry Western Men?
By:Rick <rbncr@gmail.com>

Gimmie a break with the above. Let me get this straight, you've had, over your years teaching in college, some STUDENTS approach you with interest of being your girlfriend or getting married. Is that right? And you weren't interested. And this is why you avoid Chinese women?

Well, I'm also a college teacher and I get a lot of propositions from students. They're students. Of course some will get little crushes on their teachers. This isn't their fault so much as just a power relationship, and it's pretty common in the West as well. Don't let it go to your head. And you'd better not go for it, because they are, again, your students, and half your age at best.

As for Chinese women who you can meet outside of your classroom, that's a different story. Some of the things people said in this threat are also true in the West. Hmmm. A girl wants to marry into a better life, with more money and security. And older man, if he's perceived as much better off can be more attractive to them than someone closer to their own age who doesn't have squat.

I wouldn't blame the Chinese women and certainly not the students. Why not blame social injustice, radical inequality, a patriarchal system in China (most my students have never heard of "feminism"), and the overall circumstances that would make an less privileged girl interested in men such as yourselves that they otherwise – let's say if they had grown up in your own country – wouldn't give you a second thought.

That's a good way to look at it. If you look at a girl, and you KNOW that, well, if she had grown up in America or Britain or wherever, she wouldn't give you the time of day, than your romance is about economic inequality, you can thank it or damn it.

Also, a warning for chumps who bring their 20-something Chinese girlfriend home to the West. You are taking her home to sea of more desirable men than yourself, and there's a strong possibility once she's on her feet and gets some independence it'll occur to her she can hook up with that man over there who is 20 or 30 years younger than you and better off financially, if only she can ditch you.

It's not the evil Chinese girl that's the problem here, it's the evil political leaders and heads of industry that perpetuate a system in which they prosper at the expense of everyone else, and as a result disadvantaged girls and boys are desperate enough to do all manner of thing beneath them to climb out of poverty.

So don't pat yourself on the back. Look in the mirror. That's you. Stop seeing yourself through the eyes of clever Chinese girls looking for a way out of poverty. That's just the same mirror image but tainted with rose.
