I'm wondering if there are any Chengdu internet users who have any advice on fast internet connections. Right now, I have experience with two ADSL internet services (China Netcom and China Telecom) here in Chengdu, Sichuan.

Even though I pay China Telecom for fast service, it is anything but fast. Since I depend on the internet so much for what seems like everything from communications to news, to lesson planning to entertainment. the slow connections here are killing me.

I've heard that the slow connection is due to the following:

a) the fact that I am requesting foreign websites

b) there is too much internet traffic in this area

c) the cable wiring is too small to handle faster speeds

d) various other excuses

My questions are these: Is anyone in Chengdu having FAST internet connections? Where are there fast internet connections in Chengdu which really are fast? Is cable modem available? I would like to hear others' experiences about receiving higher-speed connections here in Chengdu.
