Travel in Australia and New Zealand

Things to Do in Auckland, New Zealand
By:Flavio Alvarenga

Auckland offers a wide range of activities to choose from and it will depend on how many days you have to spend to discover this fantastic city.

During the day the place you must visit is the Sky City, which is a complex made of different buildings. In the Sky City you find the Auckland casino, different restaurants and the main and most visited among them all: the Sky Tower - the highest tower in the southern hemisphere. To visit the tower you will spend about NZ$ 25.00. You will be able to go to the observatory level and have a spectacular view from the top.

Then, also during the day, I recommend the Harbour Bridge. Go over the bridge and visit Takapuna. Ideal for shopping and to spend some time at the beach. You will have Rangitoto volcano right in front of you! Coming back towards the city, again with the great view from the top of the bridge, you should head to the viaduct. It is a lovely marina and was built to host the 2000 America's Cup Regata.

I do recommend a walk along the harbour and a visit to the Maritime Museum. If you feel like having a coffee, there are lots of cafes to choose from. Remember this is a very popular area and it is located right in the heart of Auckland.

After the Viaduct you carry on towards Mission Bay. Again, you will have cafes and restaurants to enjoy.

Therefore, Auckland has plenty to offer!
