Tips for Securing Long-Term Writing Clients
By:Kristi Patrice Carter

One of the greatest things you can do as a writer is secure long-term clients. There are many benefits to doing this, including not having to hunt for work all the time, developing an established relationship with your client so that you know exactly what is needed for each project, and earning respect and admiration from your clients that look great on a rsum! There are many tips for securing long-term clients, and here are a few of the best ones to help you build your respect and reputation!

Deliver Quality -

When you're writing something and you're tired, or you feel like doing something completely different, it is common to feel like quickly getting through the current project. However, rushing through something can really compromise the integrity and quality of the project. This is never good, because clients can recognize quality when they see it! Be sure to always turn in quality work so that you will always be doing your best. Your clients will appreciate this and will return to you for more quality writing projects.

Be On Time -

Sure, you may not work at a 9-to-5 job where you follow certain hours or report to work at a certain time, but when you're a freelance writer, you still need to hold to your deadlines. If you have told a client that you would have a particular job finished by a certain date, work your butt off to finish it by that date. This gets noticed a lot more than most people think it does, and when your clients know they can depend on you to get things done when you say you will, they will come back again and again. They will probably even refer their friends to you if they don't mind sharing a great writer!

Go the Extra Step -

Sometimes, when you compromise a tiny bit of your time, you can gain a whole load full of benefits. Go the extra step for your clients so they can tell that they are being given "special" treatment they won't get at one of those bidding sites. For example, if you know a client needs a lot of articles about one topic, throw in a free article every once in a while! Something else you can do is to offer them your sincere opinions on their sites, blogs, etc. This shows them that you are interested in their success, and you can be sure that they will notice and that it's important to them.

Just by following these few ideas and tips above, you can gather a loyal following of clients that will keep you in steady work. When you show your client that you care about what you're sending them and how their business grows, you will make all the difference in the world.
