Internet Tips
We receive frequent requests to remove unnatural links from people who - before Google recently declared such links unnatural - posted articles with promotional links (usually at the bottom of each article) on our site. Out of courtesy for fellow webmasters, we always remove them the same day. Most requests are very polite, even apologetic for the trouble they request.
Mid-May, there was an extremely rude request from the website readinstyle.com that sells glasses online (with only an email address as contact). Although our own contact info appears on all the pages of our site, their Ms. Cassia at her foreboding email address "cleanup@readinstyle.com" did not contact us. No, instead, she contacted our domain registrar at two different departments; they then had to forward her request to us.
Ms. Cassia's request, true to her style, added a lovely final touch: "Failure to remove these links will require me to file a Disavow Links report with Google. My concern is that if I have to submit your site in this report, Google may flag your site as spammy".
