Be Aware When Using Video
By:Jan Smith

One of the funniest things I have seen this week has been someone using video and trying to sell me something. His body Language did not match his words.

In fact, every time he told a ‘porky’ he rubbed his nose or covered his mouth. It was better than the “Three Goons Show”. In fact, I watched it three times just to make my day.

Video is such an up-and-coming medium to use and is becoming far better than a sales page. But people are going to have to learn the art of body language if they are to make it successful.

Where in a sales letter people tell exaggerations and outright lies too often, and often get away with it, the video and body language tells us when they are lying. For people like me who are still trying to figure everything out, this is a dead give-away that the product they are promoting isn’t really what they are saying it is. Mind you, I’m not complaining too much because it saves me money and wasted effort and I get a huge laugh to boot.

Some people really would be better off to sit on their hands. Movement is very necessary to make a video interesting but people forget when they are ‘enthusiastic’, real or feigned, and use their hands ‘normally’ which tell me a different story to what their words are conveying.

A huge percentage of Human communication takes place by body language. We watch eyes, facial expression, body positions and a heap of other subtle movements that are perceptible in everyday communication. Video conveys this perfectly and that’s what is making it such a success.

We watch these movements unconsciously and we really are only aware of them when they don’t match the spoken words. It all comes down to survival mechanisms. The ‘flight or fight’ of Human survival.

And judging from the actions in the video I saw earlier this week, this bloke is in for a long fight if he wants to win an income using video marketing.
