Top 10 Features of a Profitable Website!
By:Tyler Houts

One of the most important aspects of building your website is making sure that profitable web design strategies are incorporated. Here are 10 features your website needs to have to succeed!

Easy To Read

What good is the information on your site if no one can read it? Don’t make your text too small or choose a font that is hard to read. Also, color scheme can help or hurt the ease of reading your pages. Be sure to choose contrasting colors when deciding on font and background colors. Visitors can easily become frustrated and exit your site if they find your page difficult to read. So keep it simple – use a white background and black text for maximum visibility.

Ease Of Navigation

Browsing a website can be frustrating if the navigation is hard to follow. Make sure that visitors can find all information on your site with no trouble. Grouping all links together is a good way to ensure ease of navigation. Also, provide a back-link to your main page on every page of the website. Poor navigation is a surefire way to discourage your customers from coming back. Make sure this doesn’t happen with your website.

Comfortably Viewed

Scrolling through websites can become irritating very quickly. Try to minimize scrolling up and down on your website. Also, don’t make the user scroll left to right. Users find too much scrolling annoying and will leave if they become too frustrated.

Download Time

Don’t overload your site with graphics and be sure to test your site on all browsers and connection speeds. Believe it or not, most people still access the internet via dial-up connection – so keep your graphic file sizes down to under 100k to ensure your site loads correctly for your dial-up visitors.

Avoid Dead Links

All links on your website must be in proper working condition. One dead link could make someone leave your site entirely, plus make your website’s search engine ranking drop! Check your website one a quarter to make sure they all function.

Fresh Content

A great way to generate return visits and sales is to update your site with fresh content. Include information your visitors would find new and interesting. Write articles, offer internet specials, and helpful links. The more you offer your visitors, the more times they will return and give you return business. Plus, search engines love fresh information on websites – which can help to raise your site’s ranking!

Clear & To The Point

This world is moving faster and faster everyday and people don’t have all day to search for information on your site. They must have a clear understanding right away of what your site is about upon visiting. Remember people generally don’t like to read through a lot of material to find what they really want. So make your information clear and get right to the point. Add a headline to your home page, so people know exactly who you are, what you do, and that you can solve their problem.

Target Audience

It is extremely important in every aspect of your website to keep your target audience in mind. Who will be visiting your site? You need to think about this because your site’s look, feel, content, and call to action should be tailored to who will be visiting your site the most. Know your customer 1st, then tailor everything around them and their specific needs.

Make Contacting You Easy

If you’ve ever wanted more information from a company but couldn’t find their contact information, then you realize how important it is to include. A good tip is to include a contact form placed directly on the website rather than just an email link. It’s been proven that people are more willing to fill out forms rather than send an email. Also, put your phone number on every page – that way people won’t have to hunt for it when their ready to buy!

Browser Compatible

Test your website in all of the most popular browsers to ensure your website looks the same in each browser, most browsers display websites differently so make sure you test it.. After all, you’re trying to generate repeat visits, not complaints.

Visitors can easily be turned off, but if you are careful and incorporate these design strategies you’ll keep them coming back. Use these helpful tips when creating your website.
