Mission: "Peace through deeds, not words" has been our motto since 1920 when Service Civil International (SCI) founder Pierre Ceresole encouraged multi-national volunteers to come together in "workcamps" to help with physical and social reconstruction in war-torn sites of the First World War.

Today, SCI has official relations with UNESCO as a partner non-governmental organization. We promotes worldwide short term and long term voluntary service to impact social, environmental and humanitarian issues. SCI is a secular movement depending on the general public for funding and support.
