Is this MA TESOL Program for Me?
THE TWU MA TESOL program is for you if:
- you are planning to study full-time (see 5 semester track)
- teaching "almost" full-time (approx. 3/4 time);
- you are open to working in a highly interactive, collaborative on-line learning environment;
- you have a bachelor degree with TESL certification (or equivalent) or are willing to take prerequisites required for admission to the TESOL program;
- you are committed to a career in this profession and see yourself in some leadership role in the not-too-distant future;
- you value teaching English from a Christian worldview perspective.

Program Description:
The program focuses on personal and professional development from two perspectives. First, the emphasis is on an approach to language instruction that acknowledges the importance of this discipline to serving others around the world--working in communities of learning. From the start, the way we teach mirrors our belief in the strength of collaboration and teamwork: The overall framework presented is always tied very closely to the mission of the university. The instructors teach from a Christian perspective, although students of all faiths and beliefs are in the program. Second, the curriculum is forward-looking, preparing instructors who are competent in educational technology, state-of-the-art teaching strategies, course design, and program implementation.

Program Overview:
The program has been designed to be accessible to a wide range of student specializations. The format is based on a unique combination of face-to-face and collaborative on-line instruction. Each July for two years, students begin with a one-month intensive course-set on campus that sets up the coming year’s course work. Throughout the academic year students then work through three-week modules which are mediated by a combination of teaching methods, which may include on-line discussions, readings, video, collaborative project work, and face-to-face meetings with each other and the instructors. In principle, students may take up to 80% of course work either online or on campus in the Collaborative, Dual Delivery Instructional System. (Approximately 20% of coursework is available only online).
