Tips for car traveling on winter
By:Travel Expert

Traveling by car on winter is probably not that indicated however there are smart tips to help you stay safe and sound. Just make sure you prioritize, double check everything before leaving and you might have the chance to enjoy a relaxing trip in the end.

• Car check-up
A few days before leaving make sure you double check again your vehicle. Put aside winter tires and car chains to help you get out of the snow if necessary. Additionally, make sure that everything inside is working properly like the air conditioning, the overall engine and so on. Last but not least, don’t forget the car winter gel and the tiny plastic shovel to help you get rid of the pile of snow that will be bearing your vehicle.

• Safety measurements
Seat belts and air bags are elementary on winter; the driving will be nerve wracking, the road will be impossible and of course, your visibility will be slightly diminished. In case of an accident, having your seat belt on and air bags active will probably save your life.

• Windshield cleaners
There are endless varieties of windshield cleaners. On winter, you might want to use the defrost type because it will rapidly clean your icy windows and it will give you the possibility to have a clearer view on the road. Regular clear will probably do more harm than good because it might freeze up your windows and it might block for good your visibility, not to mention the “health” of your car.

• Extra items
It is recommended to have some extra blankets with you in the car, just to make sure you’re warm. Consequently, proper clothing and adequate winter shoes are also advised. Don’t forget to take with you extra gas as well, since the road’s difficulty level will probably consume a lot more than expected.

• Proper driving
It is certainly not a good idea to drive fast on winter. Remember that the road can be really tricky and you can never know when under a superficial layer of snow you can find hard ice and slip away. Be careful, think about your family’s safety and let others take risks.

• Car breaks check-up
The most important items in a car are probably the breaks. Especially during the cold season you need to double check them. Just make sure that everything is ok, make a test drive a few days before leaving and you should be fine.

• Choose an easy road and have patience
Prior to leaving for your vacation, take a final look at the weather conditions. Afterwards, pick out the road that’s most accessible and secure, and remember to stay away from risky, bumpy pathways. Avoided streets are probably less crowded, but they’re also more prone to accidents.

• Make frequent stops
Depending on the length of your journey, stops are recommended because they give you the chance to make more car checks. In addition, you’ll rest your eyes, body and you’ll feel more refreshed; at the same time, you will also guarantee 100% safety for your entire family.
