Travel Tips

Tips on How to Travel Light
By:Fred Landry

In these tough times, airline companies are desperate to save every bit of expense that are coming out of their revenues. Fuel costs are rising and with it is the need to lessen the load on the plane to save fuel. These cost cutting policies have drastically affected the way we travel, more importantly what we carry. With that in mind, it becomes imperative for every traveler to travel as light as possible. Keeping baggage to only one piece for domestic flights and two pieces for international flights will keep you within their weight restrictions and more importantly will save you time, money and all the effort involved. Additionally, it could also signify that you should take carry-on luggage instead of check-in luggage, which gets rid of the possibility of your luggage being stolen or lost.

Smart Travelers Choose Light

Traveling light begins with a choosing a light but durable luggage. Among your best options are hard-cased strollers and lightweight duffel bags, which may weigh a lot less than hard sided strollers but won't really be easy to transport. Since these bags are both pliable both literally and figuratively, it will be easy for you to pack as much as you need in them. Additionally, the weight of your luggage will have a big impact on how much the final weight the bag is going to be, so always keep this in mind so that you won't go over the limit. In a nutshell, if you can carry your empty carry-on bag with your pinky, then it's a good luggage.

Organize yourself with a checklist

The best way to pack is to create a checklist of what you will need for your trip then, organize it accordingly. By writing down everything you need, you not only get to realize what you might not have, but you also have a reference in case you forget anything. As you pack your things, take note of your essentials first such as your clothes, toiletries, medicine and so on and so forth. After which, you can now put secondary materials or things you don't need to have a good trip, like an umbrella or a paper plates, cups or spoons.

Be wise and choose wise- Know what clothes you really need.

A good tip would be to take note of what the weather will be at your destination. Subsequently, choose two to three outfits that you can mix and match along with each other. This way, you save bag space, you look stylish and you have room for all your shopping. Moreover, choose clothes that have multiple purposes. A case in point is your board shorts, it can be simply used as shorts and it can also be used for swimming.
Perhaps the most important pieces of clothing will be your hygienic clothes- briefs, panties, sleepwear, shoes, simple shirts and underwear. Remember, it is better to run out of clean shirts than to run out of clean underwear. You're not only going to be more comfortable with these on, but you'll also be able to enjoy your trip.

It is also much better to have layers of your clothing instead of stuffing your bag with thick clothes. Diversify people; it's just like investing. Don't forget that you're traveling and not moving to another place. The worst move you can make is to pack more than you actually need. The rule is simple, pick a good bag, travel light and choose economically. If you forget anything on this list, then just remember, what do I really need? Obviously, you're not going to need all the clothes you have, so just pick wise and everything will be fine.
