10 Things to Remember When Packing
By:Tom Sangers

If you're planning a holiday in Britain, you're probably very excited and really looking forward to your trip. However, don't get so caught up in wanting to travel that you forget you need to be prepared for that trip. You have to pack the right way, or you'll either forget something or take way too much with you. Neither one of those things is good, so avoid them if you can. Here are the top ten essentials for packing your suitcase when taking a holiday in Britain:

1. Fold things properly. Don't cram them into the corners and then sit on your suitcase so it will close. If you're doing that, you're taking too much with you.

2. Pack light. You're only going to be gone for a few days. You don't need sixteen pairs of shoes and ten different outfits. Take things you can mix and match, instead.

3. Take important medications. If you take medication, make sure you have enough for the trip and double-check that it's in your bag before leaving.

4. Sunscreen! Even if it's chilly or cloudy, if you're outside for a while you can still burn - especially if you're very fair-skinned.

5. Toys or games. Children (if you're taking them along) need something to play with. But be sure to limit how much they take. A couple of toys and a game should be enough.

6. Pay attention to weight. If you're flying you'll get charged more if your suitcase is too heavy. Even if you're driving, you don't want to struggle with an overweight suitcase.

7. Don't pack giant toiletries. Use sample-size bottles. They'll be enough, and you can buy more at your destination if you need them, rather than overload your suitcase with big bottles that you won't use up on your trip.

8. Plan for the weather. Bring appropriate clothing for the time of year.

9. Take a book. What if you get stuck at the airport or somewhere else, or you just want some downtime?

10. Lastly, have your name, address, and emergency contact info somewhere in your suitcase. No one likes emergencies, but they can happen. Be as prepared as possible for them.
