How to Find Bangkok's Best Tourist Spots
By:Isabel Prontes

Bangkok is the capital of Asian nation Thailand, and also its largest city. It also is the political, entertainment and cultural center of the country. It is one of the top tourist destinations in the globe, with millions of people passing through every year. The city has many historic sites, museums, shopping centers, and parks. Combining that and the warm climate, what more could a tourist ask for? If you are planning on visiting Bangkok, here are some of your best options for tourist attractions.

Visit the Grand Palace. The Grand Palace is the majestic official residence of the King. Dating back to 1782, this palace has been home to Thailand's royalty for over 150 years. With the impressive architecture and size, this is possibly the most popular tourist spot in the city. Be sure to check out the Emerald Buddha within the palace, as it is considered to be the best and most special temple in Thailand.

Stop by the Giant Swing at the front of Wat Suthat Temple (one of Thailand's oldest temples.) This massive giant red swing was constructed in 1784 for use in a Brahmin royal ceremony, "The Swing Ceremony." The Swing Ceremony re-enacts an ancient Hindu epic, with its pillars symbolizing the earth's mountains.

Go to Suan Pakkad Palace. This palace is composed of five traditional Thai houses and used to be the home of one of the country's biggest art collectors, Prince Chumbhot. Inside this palace, tourists will find a diverse collection of Asian antiques and artwork, as well as a large seashell collection.

Relax at Lumpini Park. This park is a large, airy open space that was once owned by King Rama VI. King Rama VI gave the Bangkok residents this park as a present. With the vast lawns and tall trees, this is a great place to relax and relish in the spirit of Bangkok as a city.

Shop at CentralWorld. CentralWorld is the largest shopping center in all of Southeast Asia. Taking up over 8,000 square meters, this mall is composed of six different zones, with an astounding number of restaurants, shops, and department stores. Be sure to check out the Flavour Food Hall, a food court of sorts, which has a large variety of fast food Asian cuisine.
