Re: 3000GBP monthly salary with 1000GBP vacation allowance for 1 yr. (fake job)

I would like to reply to some parts of your text:

In today's world we are getting more and more scammers on our Teachers websites. Most of these are coming from Nigeria, Ghana etc. One problem we are having is that Chinese recruiters are asking us for our personal information ie Passport etc even before we have been interviewed. I personally feel that all Teachers should start to stand up against these recruiters and not give out our personal passport information. This then will deter some of these low life idiots from contacting us.

Some other experienced posters and myself have frequently and regularly warned against disclosing or even sending sensitive personal information to anyone you don't know. A first contact with a recruiter or employer is a preliminary stage where handing out such information is not necessary. Second, you should have a full name and the physical address of the person you are sending it to. Otherwise, don't do it!

Many times i have sent out my passport to some agencies and as soon as i hand this information out i start to receive emails from these scammers, especially on this website. Yesterday i even received an email with death threats to myself. Obviously he didn't like what i said to him as i haven't heard from him after that.

Death threat? Oh, that only shows how low these people are. I reckon that you as an ex-soldier won't be too much impressed by them. In a case like that, I would tell them something like this: "If you dare to threaten me again, you fool, I will get you locked up. Jail is the only place where filthy dirt like you belongs". Not very nice, I know, but that's about the only language these people understand.

Don't allow these people to get on top of you as all they are is low life scum who sit behind a computer trying to do us out of our hard earned cash. These people are vermin who don't scare or intimidate me. I would love to just come face to face with some of this scum and then see who gets intimidated then.

Right so, but they are faceless cowards and would never show up if there was someone to challenge them.

Stand up against these assholes as that is all they are. Don't hand out your personal passport information to agencies or Schools until you have a confirmed offer.

Absolutely, that is the only way to protect yourself/yourselves. Newbies to ESL, and particularly ESL in China, should use their brain a bit and be very, very careful! There are many garbage folks out there, especially those calling themselves "recruiters" - mostly, they are folks from the bottom of the barrel, anyway! One of them, filthy wonna-be-recruiter Frank Zhang wangbadan, suggested to those criticising him in public that they have sex with dogs. That only shows that scammers like that guy have no brain at all, and that everyone would do well to avoid such people altogether. Just the fact that they are around makes me smell the odour they spread!

If they can't see from your CV that you are a Native English Speaker then they are not worth dealing with in the first place. Our own governments tell us do not hand over passport information. The only people who should be dealing with our passport issues and visas for China is the PSB. Recruiters should not be asking for this.

Entirely correct.

To all the scammers out there, how about getting yourself a real job and earn yourself a salary like the rest of us do.

If the police could get hold of someone like this, then he should be sent to a military re-education camp; eventually such a person would learn something about discipline by the tough way, and that he should not bother decent people with his garbage scam!

As they continue to be involved their disgusting scamming, they will most likely vary their fantasy stories a bit but basically always follow the same pattern.

They have been doing so for years.

Believe me, they cannot scare me! I have been in prison for political reasons in a former communist country where I had been almost been beaten up to death.
If you survive things like that, you can bear a lot of things much less worse than that what happened in the past!

Oh dude, I know that scam. In 2007 there was a posting to teach a rich Maylasian guys family and live with them in Singapore and offering $5000 US a month, so I sent an email introducing myself -- and the email was forwarded to me by a well known, reputable recruiter from Canada. I was an idiot and offered my resume and phone number in interest, and the employer DID call me on the phone the next day.
As he was talking to me on the phone, he was very commanding and even yelling at me in apparent frustration, trying to convey his message in broken English. And his accent wasn't Asian at all, it was an African accent.
When he started to raise his voice at me, I got scared and blacked out I think... I just wanted to hang up the phone.

I typed in his phone number on my caller I.D. online and it was infact a country code from Nigeria.

Bottom line, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I got the same email with the same contents years ago. It's from the well-known Nigeria scam gang.

I phoned the number I was given and expected to talk to a German engineer in German. But the guy on the other side did not understand a single word although he claimed to be that German engineer himself.

I suggest you have some German words ready like "Hau ab, du Idiot"!

3000GBP monthly salary with 1000GBP vacation allowance for 1 yr. Engr. Meyer, England (Western Union, visa)

Last May 8, 2010, I received an email from a certain Engr. Meyer, a German national working at one of the Railway Station in UK. He game a certain name,Cree that who will gather all my documents and the one who will process my documents, travel document. The problem is, I send all my documents (GOSH). I decided to search them to the computer, even the procedure in applying visa if you want to work there. I even as information to the UK Embassy in our country. That is now my big problem, I got hooked from the monthly salary offer. Until one day, the supporting/immigration lawyer ask me to deposit 500GBP through Western Union as proof that i will be not public charge of UK government. That is the time I decided to stop having communication with them.
