Also talked to Mr Anthony Didier on the phone and when he mentioned dealing in cheque only I felt I needed to do a google check and thank God I did. Here are all the other people they are scamming. Shame on them. I think she just copy and pastes the letters to all the different people.

Hi I too received the first email last week. What horrible people to do such a thing!!
Has anyone revealed any of their own personal information?
It's sad that people like that ruin it for the honest students

I'm so glad I came across this post. I have been emailing back and forth with this scammer and thought I'd do a quick search on Wayne Yaya and came across this! Needless to say communication will stop immediately!

Hi there,

I just posted about these people, also tried to scam us just this past month...

My post of course goes to the moderator, but it should be visible soon.

I just wondered what happened with your cheque?

And if you did report to the police? In my previous experience with people trying to scam, the police only pay attention to you if you actually lost $$ to these crooks.

Anyway my sympathies if you did lose $$, but I really encourage you to report this fraud to the police, and ask them to forward to Toronto police (that is where the cell# he talked to us was from); also report this to the online fraud centre.

It's so unfortunate that a few bad apples make the internet a place for bad experiences; there are so many wonderful people I have met online too.

Take good care,

Mary

Still scamming in the Vancouver area!

Interesting... glad I found this page.

I was wondering what on earth was the purpose of this scam?!

It's the first time this has happened to us; we really enjoy hosting students from other cultures, and it's important to our entire family.

We have been in both email & phone contact for a whole month, back & forth with the supposed Canadian contact in Toronto (Wayne Yaya, who claims to be from S Africa but in fact sounds completely Nigerian to me--my parents worked in Nigeria during my childhood, so I know my African accents...lol)

Using the name of Yun Park; email yunpark101@gmail.com -- and "Wayne Yaya" being the Canadian contact.

We never did receive a cheque but did turn other legit applicants away, so now we are out the expected $$ and have an empty suite, no student, and no rental income. We were so looking forward to hosting an international student!

The "story" pitched to us was that this "Wayne" person was a family friend, supposed to host 19yr old Mei but due to his divorce, couldn't host her with his family--so he was going to assist the single mom Yun Park to find a host family. She sent full contact info for herself in China, seemed legit--but then flight info and other information I requested was never sent. Delay after delay. Then the story became that her grandmother was extremely ill, thus the delay with information and her daughter's arrival. And the daughter was going to go via UK to US then here to Vancouver...?? Takes a certain level of deception to create fake Chinese addresses & emails with a Canadian (immigrant) counterpart that is supposed to handle payment. And again, I wondered especially about the payment arrangement, but the Toronto contact had lively conversations where he answered all our questions, had an 'explanation' for every delay. Of course he won't answer his phone anymore. And the # we were given for China does not work...

I am going to report this to Toronto police, as I have the Toronto cell# he used. Unfortunately, most likely police will only do anything about this if someone who actually lost $$ to this person makes a formal complaint. Hopefully that can happen.

Other than that, I am also going to forward this link to any homestay agencies that I work with, so they can alert their contacts...

Karma will catch up to someone who has nothing better to do than waste the time + $$ of good people who sincerely want to provide loving support and assistance to overseas students.

REPORT this to Toronto and your local police + register it with the online fraud website --
www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/
so others don't get scammed!

If reports keep coming in, hopefully they will catch up to him!

Onwards & upwards! And take care online...

PS: Just pointing out that it looks like all of these separate posts are the same people, same scam:

HA thanx you all for this page... I had a feeling... I have not recived the fake paper for the rent just yet. This is in Toronto now lol the girl really travels

Hello ,

Thanks for your respond. She will be coming on the 15th of October and leave on the 18th of February, 2016. Mr.Wayne Yaya will handle the payment for us since he reside in Canada. Mr.Wayne is a long time family friend. I contacted him about Mei moving to Canada to learn how to speak and write English language, he said its a nice move and promised to assist us with the arrangement. Initially, I wanted to send Mei to Mr.Wayne's home but since his going through a divorce, I thought it's not right to send her there any more and he and the wife understands very well and promised to assist us. Kindly let me know what your price is like for 2 meals (Breakfast and Dinner), My main worry is for my daughter to stay with a good lovely home. I hope your home will provide her the kind of atmosphere she need.

I have done my best as a single Mom to raise Mei up as nice young promising girl and you will love her trust me. She will be going to a language school, but I have also told her that am going to seek for your advice on any good school close to your home, Can you help her to enroll when she comes over? Please note that her English speaking is very slow and for this I allowed her to visit my step-sister in England, I want her English to improve before coming Canada. She will move from England to your home I hope you will assist her.

Mei is 19 years old. I want her to grown just as the Chinese economy is growing. I want Mei to be ready.

I await your reply.

Regards,

Ms Li.

Oh, god!!!

What can we do? It's a fraud! I got the same email from them. They send me a check with more than I need. They ask me to send them back money. I send the extra back to them by e-transfter.

Should I call police office?

Thanks,

Thank you! Thank you! I had my BS detector going off with regards to a recent enquiry for my room available. The names have been changed, other than Pierre Dieder, but other than that the information and emails are exactly the same! Is there something we can do about this?

Blessings,

Rebecca

Homestay scam - 19 yr old daughter - Li Zhang & Pierre Didier

Just wanted to warn host families that the homestay scam from lady in China and her friend in Toronto is still happening. Posted below are emails that have been going back and forth. I got to the point where I did get a company cheque (not certified as promised) and it was $1,835.00 per the total homestay fee. Ms. Li is claiming that her daughter is in England and extremely unhappy and wants to come to our home early. Also wanted me to send here daughter $1,000.00 to cover expenses for bills and flight, although she told me her friend Pierre Didier is supposed to have booked her flight. I hVe the cheque in my possession but do not intend to deposit it at all. Not exactly sure what my next step or action is going to be. They don't know that I'm onto to them yet.
