Hi t
Thanks for sharing your ordeal with us. I had similar situation when the same man tried it on me. This made me even more careful as my job hunts still going on.
Asking for money will come later... Keep us posted, please.
The same thing just happened to me, except they contacted me DIRECTLY! Through ESL 101, operated by the owner of Footprints Recruiting (a legit recruiter). I looked online, thinking it was a scam hagwon, but turned out to be a legit school with U.S. articles written about it! I thought ok, it actually IS legit, so I went ahead and filled out their information. I just received an acceptance letter from them as well, but before signing anything, I had a list of questions, including if I could see an ACTUAL CONTRACT. They haven't responded yet, but I am wondering what they get out this if they are not asking for any money? Strange, strange...
I found a job ad on e4s and applied for this job. It's from Mr Kim-Chong Hee, who pretends to working for Bugil Academy School and recruiting teachers. He has this email address: bugilacademyschool@gmail.com
He sent a questionnaire and I answered some interview questions because, as he said, doesn't have one there who speaks English and he was using google translator. After I sent him my answers, he said I was accepted and sent me an attachment to sign which was an invitation for a contract, telling me what the contract would cover, free accommodation, health insurance, etc and set a date of meeting at the school for documentation and orientation. He didn't ask for any money and I didn't pay for anything but I found it strange that I was given a salary of 4 000 USD monthly, which seems to me much higher than the average salary, according to quick google search I did, and I found it ever more strange that there was no skype interview. I called Bugil Academy School (http://www.bugilacademy.org/eng/about/contact.jsp) and they immediately told me it's a scam.
By the way, I also found this ad later on Dave's ESL http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/index.cgi?read=61006 and it makes me wonder whether it's a scam as well, considering that the email address of the ad (amalfi623@gmail.com) is not the email address of Bugil Academy School as posted on their site (glpbugil@gmail.com).
