Re: Hüseyin Avni Sözen Anadolu Lisesi. English Language Teacher. IS THIS A SCAM?

I'm certain that this is a scam. I received emails from Mehmet Keskin in response to a posted resume for a position with Gundoz Modern School. I received a contract for 5000 Euro/month without an interview. The emails from Keskin never contain any form of salutation. Further, he wants me to contact an email address that he has provided for visa processing. My experience from another such scam is that this address will require at least $200 to process my visa (and they will prefer that I give them credit card information). Gundoz Modern School does not appear in any web searches, nor does a 'Headmaster' named Mehmet Keskin. SCAM

Re: Hüseyin Avni Sözen Anadolu Lisesi. English Language Teacher. IS THIS A SCAM?

Yes - this is a scam.

I emailed keskinmehmet@live.com to raise the issue and the requests to "do whatever to get your papers ready" completely ignored my concern that this was a scam.

If there is a school somewhere that is relying on Mehmet, they have a problem. Don't make it yours. Walk away.

I have the same correspondence as you. I have requested details of the school but have no reply. It would be interesting to know what is going on!

Re: Hüseyin Avni Sözen Anadolu Lisesi. English Language Teacher. IS THIS A SCAM?

Here is a way to know: Keep being in touch with them but don't send them any personal info about yourself (you should even use a fake name). Pretend to go with the process. And observe. Soon, they will ask you to send money to their lawyer in order to process your visa. DON'T send any money of course. If you were to send money (I repeat: Don't send any money, it's a scam), they would get back to you and ask money a second time for some type of deposit in your name in a bank account in the country where you will teach, as proof that you have enough resources to move to that country to work, or some other reason. And after they get the $, they would stop replying to your emails. If you proceed further with them, and you want to share the results on this board, that would help other potential victims.

Re: Hüseyin Avni Sözen Anadolu Lisesi. English Language Teacher. IS THIS A SCAM?

Hi. I had the same letter, likewise with that MCginty in Spain. At the first look of it, they seem legit but really, at the back of my mind, I was doubtful since they never did skype interviews. Second, why should an employer ask for money through WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT? Employers need not ask for money from applicants. In fact, they should be the one spending for that. In some cases, there are other employers, after skype interview, will ask you to process and spend for your visa at first, subject for reimbursement, after all the legal and required documents will be sent to you, which you will personally present to their embassy (invitation letter from the school, etc.). This one is okay. But of course, you need to spend your money first for the visa and air fare.

All applications for a work visa in Turkey should pass through their embassy in personal appearance. Then, when I replied that I will be going to their embassy to submit all documents for security and legality, that alleged guy MEHMET KESKIN, responded me with, "STUPID. JUST FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS.." Sound unprofessional and unethical for a headmaster. Eventually, I LAUGHED MY HEAD OUT. Such a pity for these desperate and vile souls. I hope they can realize that there is KARMA and all their misdoings will be repaid in the future. A lot of people work hard, even making night into day to feed their family, send their kids to school, in a good and proper way, but them? OMG.....Fooling other people around is just a temporary relief. But the consequences, they'll suffer forever...

Re: Hüseyin Avni Sözen Anadolu Lisesi. English Language Teacher. IS THIS A SCAM?

Hey --- here's the SAME letter I received, from the email addy Huseyin Avni Sozen High School (with a link to the alleged Headmaster - Mehmet Keskin) BUT addressed to Dear Applicant:

I ALSO did some research on the school & honestly thought they were legit until I saw this thread (see the actual school web site & Wikipedia article on same, including translations for those of us who don't speak Turkish). After reading this, to include how to get the VISA, I have a call into the Turk Embassy here in DC & will advise of same on this site. I'm also curious what salary they offered the individual who began this thread ! My offer was MUCH higher than most positions I see advertised there.....GO FIGURE :-( How sad in this economy......or maybe thats exactly the reason for asking for 300 EUROS !

Re: Hüseyin Avni Sözen Anadolu Lisesi. English Language Teacher. IS THIS A SCAM?

Yes this is a scam.
Look at the last 2 digits of the website that they provided www.turkishministryoflaborandsocialsecurity.tk: .tk is not the internet extension for Turkey, it is the internet extension for Tokelau, a territory located in the South Pacific. Scammers have been using this extension for quite a while now; you will find many posts about it on this board.
