I received the following about a GIS job in the UK, and I sent them my black and white copies of my university degrees.

We are recognized for streamlining project processes, eliminating work delays, and maximizing the utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials. We are the official project manager for over 13 GIS projects in Europe.

We need well qualified GIS Desktop Application Developers, GIS Specialists, GIS Analysts, Cartographers, Exploration and Mapping Specialists who will assist in the Management of the various GIS projects being handled by the firm and as well propagate the growth of the firm in Europe.

SKILLS
* Excellent record of dependability and reliability
* Computer literate and knowledgeable in the use ArcGIS Desktop, Annotation, Georeferencing, Aerial Image Interpretation
* Ability to seek continuous improvement efforts to manage cost
* Ability to Understand Map Projections, Cartographic Design, Attribute Queries and Spatial Queries
* Ability to successfully implement projects on budget and on time.
* Possess a high degree of Multi-cultural awareness.
* Experienced in working in both unionized and non-unionized environment

REQUIREMENTS
At least a university Degree is required. Other GIS courses and qualifications are also considered.

After one day after this e-mail I received the following message:

Dear Applicant,

After going through the whole screening process we found that you are suitably qualified for the Position. Also, upon receiving a positive confirmation from the BCEA for your documents verification, We have finally decided to employ you.

Your immediate employment is because you have some very important qualifications which are mostly needed to work in our firm. Your experience shows that you have strong human relationship.

Find attached to this mail is your contract letter. You are to read the contract letter thoroughly, if you accept the terms in the contract, then you should sign below the contract letter.

After signing the contract letter, scan it and forward to me.

JOB OFFER
This employment contract is made between Dr. JACK FORD of ENGINEERING
SERVICE LIMITED as the (Employer) and The Applicant as the (Employee).
The employer shall employ the employee The Applicant as a Geographic
Information System (GIS) specialist in his firm
DUTIES
· Compiling, assembling, order, evaluation and maintaining geographic,
environmental, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps
databases
· Create maps and graphs, including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude,
topography, and map scales using GIS software and related equipment
TERMS
The employer shall employ the employee for a 1 year term. This contract
will commence from the 29th July 2011 to 29th July 2012. At the end of this
period the both party may agree for the extension of the contract.
In case of termination of the contract in advance both parties agreed for:
The employee must give 2 weeks notice of termination in writing.
The employer must give the employee 4 weeks notice if the service is no
longer be required.
Should the employer terminate the agreement, employer agrees to pay all
wages up to and including employee’s last day of work.
SALARY AND BENEFIT
The total monthly salary to be paid is 3500GBP excluding taxes either by
cash or Cheque to any bank designated to the employee, every 27th day of
the month. Other benefits include:
· Provision of accommodation here in UK
· Provision of Round trip flight tickets
· Health Management allowance of 100GBP per month.
PAID LEAVE PERIOD
The Employee are entitled to 2 months Paid Leave which can be taken once at a time or
2 weeks apart one different period.
The Employee will receive 500GBP Take home for each leave Period.
WORKING HOURS/ DAYS OFF/ PUBLIC HOLIDAYS.
Working hours - 6 hours (including meal time)
Working time - 10 AM - 4 PM
Working days - Monday – Friday
ENTRY/WORK PERMIT
After signing this contract letter, proceed by sending a scanned copy to Barr. Terry
Richards, of the UK Border agency. He will be responsible for the processing of your
travel documents.
