Re Asia Recruiting Agency

The offices DO NOT EXIST. IT IS A SCAM 100%.

No wonder that this "business" does not exist in reality.

Dear "Chris" or whatever his real name is appears as a nasty croc hiding in the mud to give you a bug bite if you happen to pass by.

Re Asia Recruiting Agency

I have had the same experience and emails as you i.e. send money due to company losses in the past etc.
However, I live in Bangkok and decided to visit the offices of ARA in Phaya thai, as indicated in their emails. The offices DO NOT EXIST. IT IS A SCAM 100%.

Re Teacher in Thailand

Yep,... got scamed too! ARA are deceivers! Do not trust this Christian Phillips! He seems to be well versed with the procedure /organization and gives you the illusion of being an honest and reliable person. Asian Recruitment Agency is a bunch of criminals, a swindle in professional level.

I have said before that this "Chris" is a croc hiding in the mud and only waiting to get you! Quite a nasty fellow, and stay clear of that guy!

Re: Asia Recruiting Agency (Recruitment fee)

An "agency" charging almost one month's of a Thai salary for working at a school...

There is only one answer: Don't do business with them, deal with schools directly.

Maybe, this agency is real and not a scam. Then, they would charge the job applicant and not the employer. There are many agencies around doing that. But even then, if you have to pay them to get a job, FORGET THEM!

Kind of a really fishy business model, and dear "Chris" signing that strange "offer" may be an old teeth/toothless crocodile hiding in the mud somewhere...who knows?

HAS ANYONE GOT EMPLOYMENT THROUGH THIS RECRUITING AGENCY?

Dear ________

Hello and good day from the Kingdom of Thailand, We would like to thank you for showing interest in working with us.

I have listed the details for both of the positions you applied for. I still have both of them available however the new term will start in November so I must fill them quickly. If your interested please contact us.

I have attached a ARA application along with some information regarding our transportation option, When returning the application please include a good time to contact you so we can conduct a short telephone interview. Please include the following: complete CV, scanned copies of all degrees, transcripts, any relevant certificates. Information page of your passport and recent photograph.

Before we proceed I just want to provide you with all the information you will need to make a decision.

Since you are applying outside of the Kingdom of Thailand we must retain a refundable security deposit in the sum of 20,000THB (approx. 600USD) This is a guarantee to us as well as our clients (schools). Once you have arrived and signed the original contract you would receive a full refund of your deposit unless you choose to take advantage of our transportation option which the details are enclosed in this email. In the past we didn't require a deposit but last year we had 17 applicants fail to report to the posts they applied for. Our company lost approx. 1350USD per applicant and our clients (schools) fined us 1 months salary per applicant. We would no longer be able to provide a service if we allowed this to continued so its now mandatory for us as well as our clients to retain a refundable security deposit in order to process applications, contracts and legal documents. Originally we retained a deposit equal to 1 months salary but we felt that it was a bit unreasonable so we reduced it down to only 20,000THB.

If you should feel uncomfortable in submitting a deposit you are more than welcome to apply in person and follow our policy regarding applicants residing in Thailand, However we would not be able to guarantee a position until you actually arrived in our office and we would not be able to offer our transportation option. In addition you would have pay for all your legal fees and visa processing to the necessary agencies and submit your receipts for reimbursement.

If your interested in either of these positions please let us know as soon as possible and if your not please be kind and let us know so we can remove you from our list of applicants.

Regards

Christian Phillips

WHEN I SHOWED APPREHENSIONS AGAINST THE USD 600 I RECEIVED THIS E MAIL

Dear ________

Thank you for your opinion, I understand your concerns. Unfortunately it became necessary to change our hiring policy regarding the security deposit. Our company lost a great deal of money last year because we processed contracts, visa and transportation and the applicant failed to report. We would no longer be able to continue providing a service if we allowed this continue. We felt a refundable deposit was more reasonable then asking for application fees.

Regarding the schools information. We do not disclose the school contact information until a contract is processed. We do this because we had many applicants go behind our back and contact the school directly and negotiate for a lesser salary so they can work illegally in the Kingdom. This is quite embarrassing for us as well our clients (schools).

Further more all our applicants would be employees of ARA not directly for the school. This is more for your protection then ours for example if the school should cancel classes or do away with the English program it wouldn't affect the teachers salary or benefits. We try very hard to make sure our employees have job security.
We are always open to new ideas so if you should have some advise or some ideas that would improve our hiring process I would love to hear them.

Thank you again for you insight
Have a wonderful weekend

Regards
Christian
