I don't know if I can really "help". Continuous assessment of student performance is an inregral part of the learning and teaching process by regular tests in class, homework and similar things. A final exam's purpose is to test whether the student has achieved the overall competencies set for the course and to what extent. Both things should not be played against each other, both are necessary and form part of decent academic practices.

The pro and cons of either the continuous assessmet or Final exam options normally do not form part of decent TESOL/TEFL course programmes, and much less in the 4-week Mickey Mouse pretend teacher courses offered by commercial providers. Instead, it seems to be much more a debate among educational professionals after graduation and policy makers who are responsible for curricula and what they contain - including course and progarmme of study objectives.
